How to dress a festive table
A beautifully dressed table can transform a festive meal into something truly memorable. Whether you are hosting Christmas dinner, a seasonal gathering with friends or an intimate family celebration, thoughtful flowers, foliage and decorative details can create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
At Blossom Street Florists, we love bringing nature to the table and creating festive designs that become part of the celebration.
Start with Your Festive Style
Before choosing your flowers and decorations, think about the atmosphere you would like to create.
For a traditional Christmas table, rich reds, deep greens, berries, pinecones and seasonal foliage create a wonderfully warm look. For something more contemporary, consider whites, creams and fresh greenery with subtle metallic touches. Alternatively, embrace a natural woodland style using textured foliage, dried elements and rustic details.
Choosing a simple colour palette helps everything on your table feel beautifully connected.
Make Flowers the Centrepiece
A festive floral centrepiece provides an instant focal point.
Seasonal flowers combined with evergreen foliage, eucalyptus, berries, pinecones and other natural textures can create a luxurious arrangement without overwhelming the table.
Remember that your guests should still be able to see and talk to one another. A low, flowing arrangement works beautifully along the centre of a dining table, while smaller arrangements can be positioned between serving dishes.
For a longer table, try several smaller floral designs rather than one large centrepiece. This creates a relaxed sense of abundance while allowing the flowers to flow naturally through the setting.
Add the Warmth of Candlelight
Few things create festive atmosphere quite like candlelight.
Taper candles can add height and elegance, while smaller candles or lanterns create a softer glow around your flowers. Try varying the heights to give your table more visual interest.
If you are using real candles, always keep flames safely away from flowers, foliage and other decorations. LED candles can be an excellent alternative where appropriate.
Let Blossom Street Florists Dress Your Celebration
If you’re planning something special, Blossom Street Florists can create bespoke festive table arrangements designed around your celebration, colour scheme and style.
